Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Diaz is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary fiction. His best-known work is his novel, “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.” Diaz first got attention 20 years ago for a series of heart-breaking short stories. The tales capture the painful, violent, and sometimes beautiful realities of a fragmented family. Like Diaz himself, the characters are from the Dominican Republic, struggling to make their way in New York and New Jersey in the 1980s.
